Insurance and Payment

I imagine you are wondering…

“How much do psychotherapy sessions with Ashley Watson cost? Is she covered by insurance?”

If you are interested in working with me, it’s best to email me to schedule a time for us to speak to see if we are a good therapeutic fit and then discuss my current rates and fees. I do not list them on my website as they are subject to change.

I do not participate nor am I in-network with any insurance companies. This means that the client is responsible for payment of sessions at the time of service. If you have out-of-network benefits under your insurance policy as a courtesy, I have an office manager who is able to submit to your insurance company on your behalf once a month for potential reimbursement.

While I am happy to help and explain how insurance benefits and potential reimbursement work, know that reimbursement from your insurance company is never promised or guaranteed and is up to you as the client to know and understand your mental health benefits and be prepared to pay our agreed upon rate at the time of service. Reimbursable rates differ with different insurance companies and even different policies within the same insurance company. My rates and fees are independent of your reimbursement and are agreed upon prior to you beginning therapy.

“But why don’t you take insurance?”

The primary reason I do not take insurance is because the relationship between client and therapist is personal, private and sensitive. Unfortunately, historically insurance companies often have yearly session limits and this can often create frustration for both the client and provider for coverage and payment and can impact our together and your progress. I believe your life and challenges are unique and the timeline of your growth and healing shouldn’t be determined or limited by your insurance company. It should be determined by how you feel, what you feel you need and what we come up with as a plan for your healing together.  My intention with my therapy practice and with my clients is to create the loving, trusting space you need and to allow the time you need to grow and heal. The way I feel I am able to do this best is by not taking insurance and helping my clients use their out-of-network benefits when their insurance allows.
